Description

This book presents a collection of phrases that Afonso's father has written down over the years, from the moment his son started saying his first words, right up to the present day. In tender and amusing pages, in words and illustrations, it offers a charming portrait of simple but magical moments that make a father the hero of his son, the Best Father in the World!

Paulo Batista was born in Luanda, Angola, but at the age of 6 he moved with his family to Lisbon, where he still lives. He has a PhD in Documentation from the University of Alcalá de Henares, is an archivist at the Lisbon Municipal Archive, a researcher at the University of Évora and a lecturer at the Autonomous University of Lisbon. Every month, as part of Nuvem Vitória, for which he volunteers, he goes to the pediatric ward of Vila Franca de Xira Hospital to tell bedtime stories to hospitalized children. With several scientific and technical works published, after “Afonso e o axolote mágico: uma incrível aventura no Zoo” (Afonso and the magic axolot: an incredible adventure in the zoo), the book “És o Melhor Pai do Mundo” (You are the best father in the world) is his second children's book, which he wrote with his wonderful 9-year-old son, Afonso.

Ana Sofia Ambrósio, a teacher and artist, has discovered the charm of illustration - an area in which she has specialized, with several books published in Portugal, Spain and Brazil. She was born in Caldas da Rainha in 1978, but has moved from place to place, now living on the outskirts of Lisbon. Between undergraduate, postgraduate and master's degrees, she has attended various courses and training in painting and illustration. She teaches, exhibits, illustrates children's books and runs workshops on illustration. She delights in creating portraits of a reality that only exists in her mind.
