Description

As part of World Oceans Day, the Cascais Marégrafo will be open to the public on Sunday, June 8th.

The visits will be accompanied by the head of the Marégrafo, José Campos, and last approximately 45 minutes and take place at the following times: 10h00, 11h00 and 12h00.

The Marégrafo de Cascais was one of the first European observatories dedicated to the study of the tides and is the only one in the world that still operates in perfect conditions today, with continuous recordings since 1882.

In addition to this function, the Cascais Marégrafo also marks the altimetric zero of mainland Portugal, the point from which the altitudes of our territory are measured.
