International Day of Play
In order to celebrate the International Day of Play, Cascais City Council is marking the occasion with a number of initiatives aimed at students, parents and professionals.
The day begins with a challenge to schools for Playtime between 10 a.m. and 12 noon, followed by the delivery of tables to support the activities of the 2nd cycle CAFs in various school groups, funded under the PRR - Communities in Action programme.
To round off the day, families and professionals are invited to the presentation of the ‘G.R.O.W.’ project. ‘Learning outdoors’, promoted by the Parents' Association of EB1 and JI São Pedro do Estoril, with the aim of enhancing the outdoor space known as ‘CANAS’ at EB Hortência Diogo Correia.
The ‘Learning outdoors’ compendium is aimed at all pre-school and primary school education professionals working in formal and non-formal contexts, offering tools and guidelines for promoting pedagogical practices that value learning and playing in outdoor spaces.
The ‘CANAS’ space was redeveloped by the Municipality of Cascais as part of its Local Play Policy, advocating the humanisation and naturalisation of school outdoor spaces as educational and play resources. The redevelopment was carried out in partnership with the Faculty of Human Motricity of the University of Lisbon.
