International Lusitano Horse Festival
From June 25 to 27, 2026, the International Lusitano Horse Festival will take place at the Hipódromo Manuel Possolo in Cascais. Recognised as the world’s leading event dedicated to the Lusitano horse, the festival celebrates one of Portugal’s most prestigious equestrian traditions.
With more than three decades of history, the festival has established itself as one of the highlights of the national equestrian calendar, bringing together breeders, riders, experts and the general public around one of the greatest symbols of Portuguese equestrian heritage.
The programme includes the Morphology and Gaits Competition, the National Working Equitation Championship, Dressage competitions and, on June 27 at 9:30 pm, an equestrian show featuring several performances.
The initiative aims to showcase the beauty, functionality and versatility of the Lusitano horse, bringing it closer to the public while creating a meeting point for everyone involved in the sector.
A commercial area featuring leading equestrian brands and products will also be available on site.
The Lusitano horse is one of Portugal’s most internationally recognised success stories, with registered births in 31 countries and a presence in 60 countries worldwide. The event also attracts numerous international visitors and professionals.
