Listening Perspectives… Stomping at Six
Event held as part of the European Night of Museums.
Stomping at Six is a Lisbon-based Swing band specialising in dance hall performances and mastering the worlds of Swing and Blues with rare versatility. Their repertoire offers a rich journey through the rhythms that defined 20th-century dance floors: from the classic Swing of the 1920s and 30s to the explosive Rhythm & Blues of the 1950s and 60s, also incorporating the vibrant and tropical cadence of Latin rhythms that enrich the dynamics of the dance experience.
With a musical narrative that moves between fast, syncopated BPMs and slower tempos, the band creates an immersive experience for both dancers and listeners alike. The group is made up of six professional musicians trained in Jazz at the Lisbon School of Music, Lusíada University, the University of Évora and Berklee College of Music, presenting original arrangements and a strong improvisational component.
