“Tradition and Modernism,” a concert by the OCCO—Cascais and Oeiras Chamber Orchestra
Shostakovich and Prokofiev were two great figures in Russian music and in 20th-century music as a whole. They contributed to the development of a modern musical language, both in their orchestral works and in their music for smaller ensembles.
Prokofiev stood out for his ability to create captivating melodies with innovative harmonies, while Shostakovich is considered one of the great composers of symphonic and chamber music.
The program for this recital also includes a work by Mikhail Glinka, the patriarch of Russian music.
Free admission, subject to venue capacity.
