Description

The Cascais City Council presents the book “Luís Athouguia: Life and Work of the Painter from Cascais” and opens the exhibition “Reflexo Exógeno” by Luís Athouguia on November 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the City Hall Building.

In an explosion of colors, shapes, and lines, visitors will be able to enjoy a selection of paintings donated by the artist to the Cascais City Council. The exhibition halls also feature videos showcasing Luís Athouguia’s artistic creations—generated using artificial intelligence and inspired by his own works.

The event begins with the presentation of the book “Luís Athouguia: Life and Work of the Painter from Cascais,” published by the Cascais City Council, followed by the opening of the artist’s exhibition.

The book traces the artist’s life, his surrealist journey, and the multiple dimensions of a body of work that was deeply rooted in Cascais and which, over the decades, explored diverse artistic languages, techniques, and geographies. More than a biography, it is a guide to the dreamlike universe of an artist whose paintings continue to challenge the viewer’s gaze and leave room for each viewer’s imagination.
