Community project | What can I do here?
What I have here is a pilot project from the Cultural and Educational Service, created in early 2025 as part of the Envolve-te program.ย
The challenge is to question what is meant by an art exhibition space, and how we can (or cannot) experience it with participation and freedom.
The first part of the proposal was completed with the occupation of one of the galleries at the Cascais Cultural Center, with the installation of a kind of antechamber where (almost) anything was allowed. The initiative featured the special participation of artists Biatriz Alves Ribeiro (actress) and Catarina Gentil (visual artist), as well as several children, young people, and adults who visited during the summer holidays.
September saw the arrival of the second part of What can I do here?: the creation of a group of young consultants, who will be challenged to try their hand at being cultural creators-programmers, helping to truly include their choices and recommendations in the Cultural and Educational Service's programming.
The project will run until May 2026 and is competing for two events that mark the 30th anniversary of the D. Luรญs I Foundation and the Cascais European Capital of Democracy program in 2026.
