Pet Festival 2026
The Pet Festival is an annual event organized by the São Francisco de Assis Association in partnership with the Cascais City Council to mark World Animal Day, celebrated on October 4, raise public awareness about the importance of animal welfare and protection, and encourage the responsible adoption of dogs and cats in the care of the association and other animal shelters and protection organizations.
The event features a variety of activities and initiatives aimed at different audiences, providing an opportunity for socializing and raising awareness about animal welfare. Some of the attractions include: animals (dogs and cats) from the São Francisco de Assis Association that are up for adoption; lectures and workshops on topics related to animal welfare; a dog show; a children’s area with inflatable attractions and face painting; story time; booths featuring pet-related brands; demonstrations by the GNR; concerts; and more.
Free admission.

Horse parade down the street followed by a choreographed performance in the park

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM | GNR K-9 Demonstration (lawn)
Practical demonstration of the capabilities and operational work of the National Republican Guard’s dogs
4:00 PM – 5:30 PM | ASFA Dog Parade and Contest for Dogs Adopted from the Association (main stage)
Contest dedicated to dogs adopted from the association, featuring various categories and prizes awarded to the top three finishers.
5:30 PM – 6:00 PM | Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony and Closing Ceremony (main stage)
Ongoing Activities:
- Children’s Area: Inflatable rides, face painting, and games
- Food Trucks
- Booths featuring brands from the pet industry (pet food, accessories, specialized services).
