Description

Copi, an Argentinian author of absurdist theatre, tells us a plot based on a myth and the importance of myth: EVA PERÓN, or EVITA, is dying of cancer. She has gathered around her her mother, PERÓN, her husband, the nurse, FANNY, and her friends, and IBIZA, the conductor of all this theatre. EVITA fights against death. She is loathsome, her suffering is audible without anyone seeming to pay any attention to it. PERÓN is trapped in his migraines. Mum is constantly asking for the key to a safe in Switzerland, and the nurse just works. Alone, IBIZA acts as a confidant. Through the death of an icon, Copi questions the oppression of power and the quest for immortality. Staging this text in 2025 is an important milestone because it's being brought to the stage 50 years after it was banned in Portugal. This TEC staging takes as its starting point COPI's proposal to take on transvestism, using camp aesthetics as its basis. All the elements come together to make this a creation with a strong and distinctive visual and musical proposal.

The author has already been represented by the company with great success - with the show ‘O Dia de uma sonhadora’ (The Day of a Dreamer) - and this text was chosen because of the challenge it poses to all the actors and creators. To meet this demand, the cast and crew have been reinforced with figures of recognised name and artistic quality such as Paulo Furtado ‘The Legendary Tigerman’, composing original music, Diana dos Santos, author of the light design, and in the FF cast (as Eva Péron), João Lagarto, João Nunes Monteiro and Rodrigo Tomás, who join Sérgio Silva, an actor with the company.
