The Perfect Chapter powered by Billabong
Carcavelos beach, in the municipality of Cascais, will once again be the stage for the Perfect Chapter powered by Billabong, which is celebrating its 11th edition this year, with a waiting period running from 11 January to 11 March.
The Perfect Chapter is an international surfing championship that annually brings together the best national and international surfers, tube specialists, on the best surfing day of the Portuguese winter. As part of the specialty events category, the event takes place strictly in conditions that are considered perfect: big, tubular waves, the ex-libris of the sport. In this special competition, only the tubes (surfing's queen manoeuvre) are scored, and no other manoeuvre is taken into account for the competitors' score.
The Perfect Chapter has a two-month waiting period between January and March, and the event is announced only 72 hours in advance, after detailed monitoring and assessment of the sea and atmosphere forecasts. In this way, the organisation ensures that the championship takes place on a single day of perfect waves, providing surf fans with the most eagerly awaited spectacle of the season: the best surfers on the best waves.
