“Luís Athouguia, retrospective (1991-2019)”, by Luís Athouguia, at the Cascais Cultural Center
Luís Athouguia (1953) is one of the most prolific and talented artists of his generation. Since the early 1980s, his paintings have been widely featured in exhibitions and art biennials in Portugal and other countries such as Spain, France, Germany and Italy. In addition, his work is represented in important collections of museums, national and foreign institutions.
Between February 1 and March 2, 2025, the Cascais Cultural Centre is presenting “Luís Athouguia, retrospective (1991-2019)”, an exhibition that brings together 65 canvases donated by the artist in 2022 and which are now part of the Cascais City Council collection. They are abstract paintings that show the mastery with which, through the exploration of colors and shapes, the painter constructs dreamlike and poetic visions.
