“Page 37”, by Tomás Serrão, at the Cascais Cultural Center
The young Portuguese artist Tomás Serrão (Lisbon, 1999) is presenting his latest installation entitled “page 37” subtitled 'The Plague' by Camus” in the Chapel of the Cascais Cultural Center.
Inspired by the unavoidable text by Albert Camus, the artist constructs a plastic reflection on the sometimes unconscious act of ignoring the evidence that points to a reality that can be brutal and desolate, on “preferring to remain in ignorance so that what is indisputably real can inhabit this non-place of the shadow”.
Currently studying for a master's degree in sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, where he also graduated in the same subject, Tomás Serrão founded the Pátio Nº2 project, a collective and plural space that promotes dialog and cooperation between young artists in order to broaden and strengthen the network that unites the artistic universe in Portugal.
