Concert by the Senza Misura Duo at the Chapel of St. Sebastian
Sounds of Summer
The flute and harp take the audience on a musical journey through different eras and imaginary landscapes. The program explores the lyricism of Damase in *Early Morning Variations*, the contemplative atmosphere of Hoppe, the Italian elegance of Nino Rota’s *Sonata*, and the mysterious world of *Les Fils des Étoiles*, Takemitsu’s reimagining of Satie. Nature comes to life in Sérgio Azevedo’s *Birds Chattering*, before the intense emotional charge of Tchaikovsky’s Lensky’s Aria. *Summer Music*, also by Azevedo, reimagines traditional dances with freshness and elegance. The recital concludes with Donizetti’s Sonata, an early work that already foreshadows the composer’s cantabile lyricism. Amid sunrises, serene storms, stars, and summer dances, the program celebrates the expressive richness of the repertoire for flute and harp and its ability to evoke images and emotions through music.
