Canto por Elas – Trio Lazier/Venturini/Pereira
As part of a month celebrating rhythms from around the world, the Museu Condes de Castro Guimarães, a seaside mansion turned museum in Cascais' Marechal Carmona Park, hosts the Lazier/Venturini/Pereira trio for an evening of Brazilian song.
The trio first came together in Rio de Janeiro in 2026, at the city's choro jam sessions. Choro is the lively, intricate popular music born in Rio in the 19th century. Friendship and a strong musical bond followed. In March 2026, that bond led to an artist residency and a series of concerts in Lisbon. In October 2026, the trio released its first album.
All three musicians share a deep love of Brazil's popular music traditions, especially sung choro and samba-canção, the slower, more romantic side of samba. Their repertoire blends traditional pieces with original compositions. It pays tribute to the great artists who shaped their musical paths while adding new songs in the same spirit.
Laura sings, accompanied by Augusto and Igor on two acoustic guitars (violões). This is a distinctive Brazilian tradition. The two guitars weave complementary bass lines, swap between low and high registers and share out their roles in subtle, complex ways. The result is a set of original arrangements and new songs in this unique guitar style.
In the museum's cloister, the trio presents the music of its debut album, Canto por Elas. The album is a tribute to women composers and lyricists, past and present.
