Cascais, 1870-1960: A History in Postcards
OPENING: 22 October at 6pm
This exhibition invites you to explore almost a century of Cascais's history through illustrated postcards from public and private collections, a vivid visual record of the urban, social and landscape changes that have shaped the area.
From the late 19th century onwards, these postcards carried images of Cascais's beaches, streets, hotels and scenery all over the world, accompanied by messages in many different languages. Through words of affection and travellers' tales, they became true ambassadors for the town, showcasing the beauty of its bay and preserving the memory of a bygone era.
By pairing historic postcards with present-day photographs, the exhibition brings images and words from the past back to life, revealing how Cascais has been experienced and shared by generation after generation. An unmissable journey through the town's past, where every postcard holds a story waiting to be discovered!
